HOSA and CCMA Students Bring Honor to Hippo Nation
Hutto High School's health occupations students continue to excel and bring recognition to the school's growing program.
The school's HOSA-Future Health Professionals (originally Health Occupations Students of America) chapter recently advanced more students to the state competition than ever before.
HOSA students placing in the Area competition (top 3 in each category advance to State) include:
Creative Problem Solving: 1st place (advance to State) -Stephany Anaya, Ashton Corporon, Shelby Crouch, Danielle Kowalski; 5th Place- Sidney Hameister, Elena Trevino, Marisol Norwood;
Parliamentary Pro-: 4th place - Rawan Channaa, Ileana Hernandez, Doki Jada, Beni Nguyen, Rayna Ratcliff, Jasmine Singleton, Joey Zimmerman;
Speaking Skills: 1st Place (advances to State) - Noah Marrow;
Prepared Speaking: 2nd Place (advances to State) - Esperansa Jada;
Interviewing Skills: 3rd Place (advances to State)- Heaven Starks-Brown;
Medical Art Poster: 3rd Place (advances to State) - Fortune Uwa-Ndukwe
The State HOSA competition will be held March 28-30 in San Antonio.
In addition, four HHS students recently passed their CCMA exams to become Certified Clinical Medical Assistants. These students are Paris Jackson, Jazzmyn Martin, Samantha Marroquin, and Alejandra Mendonza-Gonzalez.
The CCMA certification will allow these students to be employed in a physician office or in a hospital setting. They can earn an income of $12-18/hr. There is a great need for CCMAs in the healthcare field.
