HHS Announces 48 AP Scholars
Hutto ISD and Hutto High School are proud to announce 48 students, including 29 from the 2017 graduating class, have earned AP Scholar Awards in recognition of their exceptional achievement on AP Exams.
The College Board’s Advanced Placement Program® (AP®) provides willing and academically prepared students with the opportunity to take rigorous college-level courses while still in high school and to earn college credit, advanced placement, or both for successful performance on the AP Exams.
The College Board recognizes several levels of achievement based on student performance on AP Exams.
The 48 students recognized as AP Scholars represent a 54% increase over last year’s total of 31 students and is the most in Hutto High School history.
Richard Hoover, a 2017 graduate of Hutto High School, qualified for the National AP Scholar Award by earning an average score of 4 or higher on a five-point scale on all AP Exams taken and scores of 4 or higher on eight or more of these exams.
14 students qualified for the AP Scholar with Distinction Award by earning an average score of at least 3.5 on all AP Exams taken and scores of 3 or higher on five or more of these exams. These students are Aeron Biddle (2017 graduate), Will Christian, Christopher Gordon, James Halmon, Trevor Hollister, Richard Hoover (‘17), Tallya Lutfak (‘17), Hailey Orton (‘17), Mollie Rembish (‘17), Juan Serna, Eric Solis, Mary-Helen Shomba (‘17), Ismael Suarez, and Adam Wassilchalk.
Eight students qualified for the AP Scholar with Honor Award by earning an average score of at least 3.25 on all AP Exams taken and scores of 3 or higher on four or more of these exams. These students are Hadi Channaa (‘17), Mykala Garton, Madison Gutierrez, Brooke Hyatt (‘17), Arielle Lutfak (‘17), Carson Page (‘17), Montgomery Raesz, and Valeria Salinas-Lopez (‘17).
26 students received the AP Scholar Award by completing three or more AP Exams with scores of 3 or higher. The AP Scholars are Elington Aaron, Xochilt Albiter Loyola (‘17), Ariel Arriaga (‘17), Christopher Bulding, Morgan Caldwell, Cody Carlson (‘17), Dante Cash (‘17), Melissa Claude (‘17), Nicole Cox (‘17), Katryna Dahlberg (‘17), Jason De Los Santos, Colby Isaacks (‘17), Sydney Johnson (‘17), Bryce Leopold (‘17), Brianna Lundin (‘17), Franchesca Lyra (‘17), Alejandro Mancilla (‘17), Mara Manskie, Carolina Martinez (‘17), Katherine Mercer ('17), Kathleen Myers, Brandon Nsidinanya (‘17), Zachary Thomsen, Christopher Villa (‘17), Maiya Williams (‘17), and Brandon Woods.
