January 10, 2022

Hutto ISD Honored with State-Wide Award

Austin, TX – Hutto ISD is proud to be recognized by The Texas Association of School Business Officials (TASBO) with a 2022 Award of Merit for Purchasing Operations. The Award of Merit was established in 2009 to recognize Texas school districts, open-enrollment charter schools, and education services centers that are committed to following professional standards in the acquisition of goods and services.

“In Fiscal Year ending 2021, Hutto ISD procured a total of $96,522,440 in goods and services needed for the daily operation of the district,“ said Glenn Graham, Hutto ISD Chief Financial Officer. “As one of only 58 TASBO Award of Merit for Purchasing Operations recipients, I am proud to know that the level of work and processes developed by the business office team to procure those goods and services have proven to be at their most efficient level. It is just another example of how my staff, the administration, fellow employees and especially the Board of Trustees takes our role as stewards of taxpayer money very seriously”.

Each year, volunteers with the TASBO Purchasing and Supply Management Research Committee evaluate the award criteria to ensure it represents the latest best practices. They then review new and recertification applications. For 2022, only 58 recipients out of 1,228 statewide entities met the stringent criteria to qualify for the award.

“As Texas school districts face ever-increasing pressure to use funds efficiently, we’re honored to recognize the work our honorees do to streamline operations, comply with regulations, and set the standard for how to utilize taxpayer dollars,” said Tracy Ginsburg, TASBO Executive Director. “These organizations have not only demonstrated their professional purchasing operations by documenting their districts’ policies and procedures, but have also shared these best practices with colleagues throughout the state.”

Members of the district’s purchasing team will be honored at an awards reception sponsored by BuyBoard Purchasing Cooperative in Grapevine, Texas, on March 2 during the 2022  annual conference.
