Hutto ISD Accepting Nominations for Naming Elementary #8

HUTTO, Texas — Hutto ISD is now accepting naming options for a new Elementary School that was approved by voters in May as part of the District’s 2023 Bond program. The project, currently known as Elementary #8, is one of two new Elementary School campuses authorized by voters among the $522 million Bond proposals.

Elementary #8 is the first new school authorized by voters from the 2023 Bond program to be constructed on approximately 20 acres within District-owned property adjacent to the Hutto 9th Grade Center along Destiny Lane and FM 1660 North. This property has been master planned to house the full build-out of Hutto High School #2, Elementary #8, a future Middle School, and a future Performing Arts Center. This locale also houses the District’s maintenance and transportation facilities. Hutto ISD anticipates opening the yet-to-be-named Elementary School in Fall 2025, and plans to host groundbreaking ceremonies this spring.

Once open, Elementary #8 will provide enrollment relief for Hutto Elementary and Cottonwood Creek Elementary, which have exceeded their functional capacities due to the rapid growth of student headcount in the District.

Hutto ISD invites all local stakeholders to submit their naming nominations using our online form, now through January 31, 2024. This nomination process will follow Board Policy Local CW to guide the naming of Elementary #8. Full details about the local policy are outlined in the online submission form.

When submitting nominations, Hutto ISD requests the public to provide supporting information including a description of the nominee’s contributions to the District and/or community, reasons those contributions are important, and any pertinent history the Hutto ISD Board of Trustees should consider when selecting the name for Elementary #8. Trustees will not consider petitions submitted as part of this facility’s naming process.
