Jonathan Smith
Hutto High School Principal
Principal Jonathan Smith is a transformational servant leader. He's focused on the success of every student and staff member that walks through his door. He plays an active role in motivating the HHS campus and works to develop common goals. He would never ask someone to do something he would not do himself.
He finds opportunities to empower the people around him, and his number one priority is to give his students the tools they need to achieve their dreams.
Mr. Smith didn’t have a picture-perfect childhood, but that didn’t stop him on his journey. His mother and grandmother were constant beacons of love and grace that shaped him into the person he is today. Growing up he moved around a lot and was fortunate enough to have people in his life that supported him and his dreams. Being a busy guy, he cherishes every moment he gets to spend with his family. His wife and children are his biggest fans!
He believes that relationship-building is crucial to learning. “Students must trust that [Hutto High School] is a safe place for learning,” says Smith. “If a student does not feel comfortable in their environment; then they will not work hard to learn.”
Mr. Smith gives out his cell phone number openly to parents, and he encourages them to have an open line of communication. He has no problem being there when his parents need him. He has a positive impact on Hutto High School and is creating a culture of HOPE and BELONGING!
He is proud to be a part of the Hippo Nation family and looks forward to each day he gets to interact with his students and staff. Thank you, Mr. Smith, for being an exceptional leader and principal!
