Kyle Ruggirello Appointed Principal of Kerley Elementary
Mrs. Kyle Ruggirello, current principal of Cottonwood Creek Elementary, has been appointed principal of the district’s newest elementary school, Benjamin “Doc” Kerley Elementary, which is scheduled to open for the 2018-19 school year. The appointment was made by Superintendent Dr. Celina Estrada Thomas.
Mrs. Ruggirello will assume the new role on January 6, 2019, following the district’s Christmas break.
“I believe that every student has amazing potential, and it is our job to make sure they reach it and hopefully exceed our expectations,” said Mrs. Ruggirello. “I believe Hutto ISD is a district that truly puts children first, and I plan to carry on that tradition at Kerley Elementary. I feel honored to be part of Hippo Nation, and I welcome the opportunity to open our seventh elementary school next August.”
Mrs. Ruggirello has worked in public education for 24 years, with the last 20 being in Hutto ISD. She has served as principal of Cottonwood Creek Elementary since 2014. Prior to that, she was the assistant principal at Hutto Elementary for four years. During her time with Hutto ISD, she has also served as a fourth grade teacher, a reading intervention teacher, a gifted and talented teacher, and an instructional coach.
“We welcome Mrs. Ruggirello’s experience and expertise,” said Dr. Estrada Thomas. “She has the skill and organizational qualities to open a new elementary school and set it up for success from the start. Kerley Elementary will be in excellent hands under her leadership.”
Mrs. Ruggirello earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Humanities and Elementary Education and a Master of Arts in Teaching from Trinity University in San Antonio. She received her Principal Certification from Concordia University in Austin. In addition to being a dedicated educator, Mrs. Ruggirello is devoted to her family. She and husband, Todd, have been married 21 years and are the proud parents of a 17-year-old daughter and a 13-year-old son.
Hutto ISD plans to post the Cottonwood Creek principal job by the end of the week and hopes to have a new leader named by the end of November.
