The Symphonic Band (3rd band), under the direction of Joe Rush, earned a Sweepstakes Award for their performance at the UIL Concert & Sight-reading contest. A Sweepstakes Award is earned when the band receives a 1st Division Superior rating for both their stage and sight-reading performances. This is the third year in a row that the Symphonic Band has earned the Sweepstakes Award.
The Wind Symphony Band (2nd band), under the direction of Michael Harrison, earned a Sweepstakes Award for their performance at the UIL Concert & Sight-reading contest. This is the fourth year that the Symphonic Band has earned the Sweepstakes Award.
The Wind Ensemble (1st band), under the direction of Stacy Gist, will compete at the UIL Concert & Sight-reading contest in Georgetown on April 25 at 8:45am.
HHS Bands Continue to Excel in UIL
Congratulations to the Hutto High School Bands on their successes at the UIL Concert & Sight-reading contests April 3-4.
The Concert Band (4th band), under the direction of Stacy Gist, earned a 1st Division Superior rating for their stage performance and a 2nd Division Excellent rating in the sight-reading portion of the contest. This was the first time that Hutto HS has taken a fourth band to contest. Hutto is one of only ten 5A high schools in Texas to take four concert bands to the UIL Concert & Sight-reading contest.
