Bridgit Reichel Selected to Lead Nadine Johnson Elementary
Mrs. Bridgit Reichel has been named the new principal of Nadine Johnson Elementary School. She replaces Dr. Lindsie Almquist, who is the district's new Director of Human Capital.
"I am so excited to be part of Hippo Nation," said Mrs. Reichel. "It gives me great pride and pleasure to serve the students, staff, families, and community of Nadine Johnson Elementary."
Mrs. Reichel served the last two years as principal of Vinland Elementary in Washington State.
Mrs. Reichel began her career in education 30 years ago. During her tenure, she has taught for 17 ½ years in grades 2-5, including highly capable, science enrichment, and overseas in South Korea.
As an administrator, she started off as a district-level instructional coach for eight elementary schools, where she supported English Language Arts, Math, Science, and Social Studies, in addition to the district's highly capable program and secondary mathematics. She then worked as the Assistant Director of Curriculum and Instruction for one year and as an Elementary Assistant Principal for three years.
She received her Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education with a minor in science from Washington State University and earned her Master’s Degree in Educational Administration from Western Washington University.
She and her husband, Dave, have been married for 28 years. The Reichels have two children, John and Megan. John currently lives in Austin.
Mrs. Reichel added, "It is my goal as the leader of this school to work hard to support the academic and social and emotional needs of all the students of Nadine Johnson, facilitate growth in school improvement initiatives, and provide a learning environment where all students can achieve success. I look forward to having a successful year!"
