District Names Eric Johnson as New Principal for Veterans’ Hill Elementary
December 16, 2021
Hutto ISD has named Mr. Eric Johnson as the new principal of Veterans’ Hill Elementary School. He will assume the leadership role at VHES on January 3, 2022, when the district begins the spring semester. Mr. Johnson replaces Misty Patureau, who is leaving after the fall semester.
“We are excited to name Mr. Johnson as the next principal for Veterans’ Hill Elementary,” said Dr. Celina Estrada Thomas, Superintendent of Hutto ISD. “His passion for elementary education, especially dual language, makes him the ideal leader for the students, staff, and families at VHES. We look forward to seeing the campus continue to shine and reach new heights under his leadership and guidance.”
Mr. Johnson is currently serving as the 7th grade Assistant Principal at Farley Middle School. He earned his Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and his Master of Education from Texas State University. This is his 18th year in education, and he has a wide range of professional educational experiences. Prior to coming to Hutto ISD, he was in Manor ISD, where he served as an assistant principal at Blake Manor Elementary for three years and an ESL Coordinator for the district for three years. Before he began his career in administration, he spent 10 years as a classroom teacher and soccer coach. Four of those years were spent teaching ESL in Puebla, Mexico.
Mr. Johnson celebrates cultural and linguistic diversity and is excited to be at a campus with a flourishing dual language program. He believes in educating the whole child and that it truly does “take a village” to maximize student potential.
“Community and parental involvement are essential to student learning,” said Mr. Johnson. “I am proud to serve the parents, students, staff, and community of Veterans’ Hill Elementary.”
Mr. Johnson and his wife, Marisol, have two children, Nolan and Maia. In his free time, he enjoys traveling, hiking, exercising, and spending time outdoors with his family.
