Hutto Memorial Stadium Completion Delayed By Recent Rains
October 8, 2021
Last week’s rains have caused a delay in the final construction phase of Hutto Memorial Stadium. Although work is continuing on several important pieces of construction, the cobblestone entry and large areas of flatwork will not be completed in time for the originally scheduled October 15 debut. We regret to inform our community of this change but look forward to opening safely and with all the celebratory festivities that we have planned.
The game scheduled for October 15 against Stony Point has been rescheduled for Thursday, October 14 at Dragon Stadium. The official Grand Opening and Ribbon Cutting will now be held on Friday, October 29, prior to the varsity game against Vandegrift. Senior Night and Homecoming will also be held on this memorable night. Mr. Smith, principal at HHS, will send out more details about the change of events to the parents and students.
The Freedom Game, which annually recognizes veterans, active military, and first responders and was slated for the October 29 game will be canceled this year. We will celebrate our veterans with the annual Veterans Day Celebration and Flyover on Friday, November 5.
