Robotics Team Advances to UIL State Championship
The Hutto United Robotics Team qualified Saturday for the Texas BEST and UIL State Robotics Championship after winning the First Place BEST Overall award at the Capitol BEST Hub Robotics Competition in Austin.
Around 200 students and spectators from Hutto cheered the team of 88 students and mentors from Hutto High School, Hutto Middle School and Farley Middle School to victory. The BEST Robotics Competition consists of 5 sub-categories: Engineering Notebook, Marketing Presentation, Sales Exhibit & Interview, Spirit & Sportsmanship and the head-to-head Robot Competition.
Hutto United Robotics competed against 35 teams from the Austin area including, high schools from Pflugerville, Round Rock, Cedar Ridge, Westwood, Stony Point, Leander, Dripping Springs, Belton, San Marcos, Hays, and others.
The Hutto team is in its sixth year competing in the BEST Robotics competition and last year finished as the UIL State Runner-Up.
This year's Texas BEST and UIL State Robotics Championship will be held December 7-9 in Frisco .
