RELEASE - Oestreicher New Director of Technology
Hutto ISD has named David Oestreicher as the new Director of Technology and Digital Learning. Mr. Oestreicher brings 23 years of technology experience to the district, including serving as a technology director in school districts for the last 13 years at Lewisville ISD, Seattle Public Schools, and most recently at Mineral Wells ISD.
At Mineral Wells ISD, Mr. Oestreicher implemented a wide range of initiatives that greatly improved the amount and quality of technology use by students and staff.
“I believe that the proper use of technology in education can benefit students through engagement, transforming learning, and teaching collaboration and other real-world skills,” said Mr. Oestreicher. “I am passionate about technology in schools, and I am excited for what the future holds at Hutto ISD.”
Mr. Oestreicher was a finalist for the 2019 Texas Computer Education Association (TCEA) Technology Administrator of the Year. He also has served as the chair of the Information Technology Committee of the Texas Association of School Business Officials (TASBO) from 2013-2015 after being vice-chair 2011-2013.
"I am very pleased and excited to have David Oestreicher join Hippo Nation as our Director of Technology and Digital Learning. David is a very accomplished and highly credentialed technology leader who comes to us with 23 years public school technology experience. He is known throughout the state,” said Henry Gideon, Hutto ISD’s Assistant Superintendent of Operations. “David and the great team in our Hutto ISD Technology Department are well equipped going into the next five years of growth. With recent improvements to funding, voter approval of the May 2019 Bond that included $16 million set aside for technology upgrades, and a great ‘community driven’ technology plan that will provide vision and planning parameters for continuous improvement, particularly in the areas of instructional technology, I believe our Tech Department is headed down a great path."
Mr. Oestreicher holds a bachelor’s degree in Business Computer Information Systems from the University of North Texas and a Master of Business Administration degree from Tarleton State University. He and his wife, Claudia, have two sons. Joshua is studying finance at Brigham Young University–Idaho, and Daniel is currently doing an internship to receive his bachelor’s degree in software engineering this December from Brigham Young University–Idaho.
Mr. Oestreicher will start with the district on October 7.
