Chief William Edwards graduated the Capital Area Planning Council Regional Police Academy class #10 (C.A.P.C.O.G  R.T.A.), in July 1996. Immediately after graduating from the academy, William accepted a position with the Leander Police Department as a non-paid reserve officer.  In August of 1996, William accepted a position with the Pflugerville Police Department where he worked for almost 21 years before honorably retiring. William worked in and supervised almost every division in the Pflugerville Police Department including the Patrol Division, Criminal Investigation Division, Property Room, and Narcotics Division, the Dynamic Entry Team, Communications, I.T. and Building Maintenance. 

In May 2008 The Pflugerville I.S.D. and City of Pflugerville entered into an interlocal agreement to create the Pflugerville I.S.D. Police Department. William was selected as the first Chief of Police of the Pflugerville I.S.D. Police Department where he created the department and served as Chief of Police until August of 2016 when he returned to the Pflugerville Police Department. William was selected as the Hutto ISD Police Department Chief of Police in March of 2017.

William graduated from Leadership Command College in 2001, after completing the required courses at Texas A&M University, Texas Women’s University and Sam Houston State University.  Chief Edwards has over 5200 training hours, as reported to The Texas Commission on Law Enforcement (T.C.O.L.E.), and holds nine proficiency certificates with T.C.O.L.E. including: Firearms Instructor, Master Peace Officer Certificate, Instructors License, Crime Prevention Inspector, Mental Health Officer and Special Investigator.  William is a graduate of the F.B.I. National Academy class 245 and has a Bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice Administration / Organizational Leadership.
