Social Media incidents on the rise!
With today's social media apps and the growing number of users, police interaction is on the rise. ISD Police have taken a multitude of calls relating to inappropriate posts, some which have resulted in criminal charges. Posts in harassing nature, indecent photos and videos posted from criminal incidents within the schools, are amongst a few where police involvement was warranted. Not only is against school policy to have cellphones out during school hours without authorization, cellphones have enabled students an avenue to implicate themselves by using that device to distribute media that could later be constituted as criminal activity. When this occurs, a harmless recording of media whether shared or not, could result in the student forfeiting their cellphone as evidence. These devices are subject to be searched whether it be by consent or search warrant. Please educate your kids of the potential consequences of recording, distributing or even viewing criminal material in nature.
