Hutto ISD welcomes our military families! This page was created to provide you with valuable information to assist you.
Military-connected children are an enormous resource for our educational community. From a young age, many have resided in different states or countries, have built resiliency to transitions and hardships, or, similar to their service member ideals, have begun building an admiration of public service. Hutto ISD's Parent and Family Engagement strives to support these families in our district, to include service members that are Active Duty, National Guard, Reservists, Veterans, and Families of the Fallen, and offer guidance on navigating through community and district-wide resources that meet the needs of military families.
Campus Military Liaisons
Military Liaisons support military families with integration into school, coordinate military-connected professional development opportunities for staff, and provide military families with guidance and information about district, community, and military resources.
In honor of Military Family Appreciation Month (November) we hold an art contest open to all Hutto ISD students. The four winners are recognized on their campus as well as at a district board meeting, and on social media. Click to see the winning artwork!
The district officially recognizes Veterans Day this year on Thursday, November 10 as Friday is a student/staff holiday. For 19 years, on the Friday prior to Veterans Day, Hutto ISD has hosted the Veterans Day Flyover. This year, with forecasted inclement weather, the event moved to Thursday, Nov. 10. Under the leadership of Paul Lister, Hutto ISD celebrates our brave men and women who protect our country by bringing history to life with a city and district wide program for our students, Veterans and the community. We are grateful to the pilots and crews who donate their time. That day the sky will be filled with a dozen vintage WWII Planes flying in formation with Honor Flight and Wounded Warrior passengers.
April is the Month of the Military Child, and as part of this month, we celebrate “Purple Up” day. The district and each campus will celebrate with activities and displays of purple to show support for military children. Please show your support for our military families by wearing purple on April 14th! Be sure to check out your campus social media pages for information and photos of the celebrations!
Hutto ISD is proud to announce that four of our campuses have received the distinction of being named a Texas Education Agency (TEA) Purple Star Designation campus. The award is for the 2022-23 and 2023-24 school years in recognition of being schools that excel in meeting the needs of military-connected students and their families.
Each campus was honored at a recent school board meeting for being named a TEA Purple Star Campus, a designation that shows the commitment of a school to welcome, support, and appreciate our military connected students and families.
