Complaints and Grievances

Purpose of the Grievance Process

Hutto ISD’s complaint and grievance process is intended to encourage communication, resolve concerns fairly and efficiently, and promote collaborative resolution consistent with District policy. The process and all participants are governed by Board Policy.

Start with Informal Resolution

The District strongly encourages individuals to first address concerns informally by communicating directly with the appropriate teacher, principal, or campus administrator as soon as possible.

Informal resolution:

  • Allows concerns to be addressed quickly and collaboratively
  • Often resolves issues without the need for a formal complaint
  • Helps avoid unnecessary escalation

Step-by-Step Grievance Process

Filing the Appropriate Form

To proceed with a complaint or grievance, the applicable District form must be completed and filed in accordance with the appropriate policy. Grievance timelines are based on when the appropriate administrator receives the completed form. Complaints may also be submitted to the Director of Employee Relations.

DGBA – Employee Complaints and Grievances

FNG – Student and Parent Complaints and Grievances
