"Parent" includes a natural parent, a guardian, or an individual acting as a parent in the absence of a parent or guardian. The term does not include a person as to whom the parent-child relationship has been terminated, or a person not entitled to possession of or access to a child under a court order.
A parent is entitled to full information regarding the school activities of a parent's child except when related to child abuse investigations. Additionally, a parent is allowed full access to student medical and health records maintained by the school district. On request of a student's parent or guardian, the school district shall provide a copy of the student's medical and health records to the parent or guardian. The district may charge a reasonable fee for providing copies of this material.
Please note that parents must follow appropriate procedures in requesting records. This typically is through the Public Education Information Management System (PEIMS) clerk on the campus.
