Dual Accelerated Language Enrichment Program

The Two-Way Dual Language Program offers both native English speakers and native Spanish speakers the opportunity to develop reading, writing, speaking, and listening proficiency in both languages. Our program provides students with an enriched education that is beyond traditional schooling, a differentiated challenging and engaging experience that supports the goals of dual language education: bilingualism and biliteracy development in partner language and English, high academic achievement in all content areas in both languages, increased multiculturalism and high levels of sociocultural competence. The program strives to foster an understanding and appreciation of other cultures, inspires self-esteem, and strengthens positive attitudes among students, their families, and the community.

Dual language immersion programs provide students with a multitude of opportunities to further develop their language abilities. The research on the benefits of bilingual programs is compelling and deep. Overwhelming evidence shows that dual language immersion programs are the only instructional programs that close the academic achievement gap between emergent bilingual students and non-emergent bilingual students.

Students in a two-way dual language program develop strong literacy skills in both English and Spanish as careful attention is paid to the development of bilingualism and biliteracy for all participants. Research has proven that students in dual language programs become great thinkers, gain the same results or better in academic subject areas and standardized testing, and develop high linguistic and academic proficiency in both languages.
