Mrs. Lori Ann Ainsworth

Hello! My name is Mrs. Lori Ainsworth.  I live in Hutto with my awesome husband and amazing daughter.  I love to sing, draw and have fun with my family.    I have taught preschool for 28 years getting my students ready for "big school".  During that time, I also taught music and inherited a music business which I re-named Born Musicians.  I taught music using mostly the Kodaly method of teaching music for a total of 8 years. Three years ago, I taught for the first time as an elementary teacher in Kindergarten in another district.  I am so grateful for that experience.  But my heart was still with Howard Norman where my daughter first began school.  I was so excited when I was chosen to be Mrs. Martinez's aide.  Mrs. Martinez was my daughter's Kindergarten Teacher and we love her! We were so happy to be back! After having assisted in Pre-k for a year, I became a first grade teacher here at Howard Norman.  Our First Grade Team is amazing and I learned so much from them.  I have now returned to my first love, Music!  I am so blessed to be the Music Teacher here at Howard Norman! I truly believe music holds a special place in everyone's life and I cannot wait to re-experience music with our sensational group of supersingers!

Now you know me professionally, so here's a little about myself personally... I was born and raised in Texas!  My heritage is mostly Mexican (included in my ancestroy is Spanish, French and according to my grandpa, Apache - but that hasn't been verified). I like to call myself a Texican! When I was little I wanted to be a veterinarian, then a singer, then a band director. I really loved to sing and most days could be found in my bedroom singing to my favorite songs on the radio.  I graduated from Hearne High School in Hearne, Texas.  Then off to college.  Most of my family are Aggies but I had other ideas…

In December of 1992, I graduated from The University of Texas at Austin with a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology.  My first year, I majored in Music.  I loved it!  Then something happened.  It was during my college career that I was bitten by the teaching bug.  After completing my first year of college, I began teaching preschool and have been teaching ever since.  I am also a life-long learner so in April of 2016, I decided to take a leap and began pursuing an Alternative Teaching Certification in Early Childhood through 6th grade.  I have passed three certification exams - EC – 6, English as a Second Language and Music EC – 12 and am now certified in all three!

I am eager to continue my journey as an Elementary Music teacher.  I am looking forward to a fun filled year of fine arts here at Howard Norman Elementary!
