Ms. Rose B. Willey

Hello,

Welcome new and returning HMS students. I am so excited to be a part of the Hutto Nation. I am proud to serve in the position as the Linguistics teacher for the school year of 2019-2020. Our class will continue to use the Wilson Curriculum. With 30 years of experience, in both elementary, secondary, and special education, I can truly relate to the fears and excitement of being a middle school student. This is the most important time for growth and support. Transitioning to the middle school can be challenging. After all these years, I still have memories of my very first day of middle school. Please know that I am here to make this transition successful. The supports for your child in the general education class are available and need to be utilized for a successful year. I will provide opportunities during small group instruction to get to know your child and use authentic assessments to drive the curriculum. Please contact me directly through email to set up a conference to meet or a phone conference. It is my strong belief that TOGETHER, our relationship can make a difference for your child.

I will be supporting your child each day in the Dyslexia classroom. I  want to encourage you as a parent and as a student to advocate for what you need so that you can reach your potential. I am here to provide a student-centered,self-directed and an engaging curriculum. My goal and belief is for every student to be an independent reader and learn strategies that work for a lifetime. I am so excited to meet each one of you and learn more about you. I have an open-door policy and do appreciate your involvement. If you ever want to volunteer and work in our class, please contact me. I have behind the scene jobs that can be done from home.

SO a little about me:  Our family relocated to Hutto 2years ago, from Salado, Texas. I am the proud mother of  Blake, my 11-year-old son, and our 2 dogs, Rosie and Teddy and our 2  cats, Smokey and Mittens. I love walking our dogs and visiting the many dog parks here. I obtained my teaching credentials from Hunter College in New York City, and my graduate degree from the University of CO.

I am available to meet with you in person to discuss any issues, or questions you may have. My plan period is from 8:15-9:00. Please feel free to contact me at rose.willey@huttoisd.net. Parental involvement is the key to every child's success, no matter what age. Please do not hesitate to reach out if you have questions or concerns. I look forward to an opportunity to share more and learn more about your child. Here's to a sensational 2019-2020 year.

With Children First,

Rose B. Willey, Dyslexia Teacher
