Degrees and Certifications:
Bachelors of Arts and Sciences
Hello Hippos!! I was born in Washington State, but my family did not stay long because my dad was in the Navy. I grew up in a small town on the Central Coast of California. I graduated high school in 1999 and started college that fall. I finally finished my Bachelors of Arts and Sciences from Lamar University in December of 2018. Even though it took me almost 20 years to receive my degree, I am so glad I continued to work toward and accomplish this goal!
I have been married for 15 years. My wife, who is also a teacher, and I have two girls and two boys. We also have a miniature Daschund named Luna and five chickens. My two girls will be starting at Ray Elementary this year. We live on a couple acres out in the country and I enjoy gardening and working around the property.
I have an interesting path to teaching. When I was 21, I worked as a Nuclear Security Officer at a power plant on California’s coast. I had the opportunity to see some really cool things; ask me about it in class! My wife and I moved to Texas in 2006. I initially worked at Austin Bergstrom Airport for a short period of time. After that, I spent almost 11 years at Manor ISD. I started as a security monitor for Manor Middle School, but then spent the majority of my time in Technology as the Lead Computer Technician. Finally, I spent 6 months at an educational software company in Austin.
The time spent at the software company made me realize how much I missed being in schools and around students. I quit my job at the software company and worked to complete my teaching certification. My heart’s desire is to not only impart knowledge but to have a positive impact on the next generation.
I look forward to meeting each and every one of you.
