Degrees and Certifications:
Mrs. Jennifer Jennings
I'm so happy to be back with you after a fun-filled summer! My name is Jennifer Jennings, and I'm thrilled to return to HES for my 4th year as your counselor. I received a B.A. in Psychology from the University of Texas at Austin in 2000 and my Master’s in Education from Texas State University in 2004. My husband, James, and I are celebrating almost three years of marriage and have a beautiful baby girl, Selah Jane.
Before I became a counselor, I taught middle school social studies, language arts, leadership classes and 4th grade language arts. My passion is letting students know they matter, forming lasting relationships with them, and strengthening their emotional well-being. I earned my certification from Region 13 after realizing the best place to do that would be as a school counselor. I can’t wait to begin my 12th year in the Hippo Nation!
Through the HISD counseling program, students are taught a variety of skills dedicated to their optimum social-emotional health. Each month, I teach the Kelso conflict resolution system along with specific social skills. Small groups dedicated to more targeted intervention will also be available throughout the year. Students are welcome to come visit with me anytime using my class pass system, which will be explained to them in September. If you need resources for outside counseling, I have a wide variety of community resources available to share with you.
In my spare time, I’m an actress, singer, reader, and cook. I also have a huge affinity for Wonder Woman and Dr. Seuss- my office is one interesting mash-up!
Please don’t hesitate to contact me with any questions or concerns you may have. It’s my continued privilege to serve you and your family.
Yours in the Hippo Way,
