My online Art class is ready to go and I will add new content weekly!
Parents, please know that my goal for these online projects is simply to keep students engaged during this unique period in time. I do not want to add any extra stress to your plate, so activity ideas range from drawing videos which only require a pencil and paper, to simple projects using items that you hopefully already have at home. These activities are not mandatory or graded so feel free to modify them with different supplies or techniques that fit best for you. Degrees and Certifications:
BFA in Studio Art EC-12 Art certification EC-6 Generalist certification
I graduated from Texas State University with a degree in Studio Art in 2006. I taught Art, World Cultures and Social Studies for two years at Harmony Elementary before joining the Nadine Johnson family in January 2018. My students love working with clay, paint and oil pastels, so we will implement these materials often in our projects!
*We Are Trying A Little Something Different This Year: I decided to implement a 5 minute, guided relaxation/meditation warm up for all of my 3rd-5th grade classes this year. So far, this is going even better than I expected! This warm up gets our students calm, focussed and ready to create amazing art projects. See photos below from a few of our meditation sessions.
I am so excited to continue working with the students at NJES, and I look forward to sending many art projects home for your family to enjoy!
