• Hutto Education Foundation Awards Eight Scholarships to Hutto ISD Seniors

The Hutto Education Foundation recently awarded eight graduating seniors with scholarships at the annual Hutto ISD Senior Awards Night. The event was a celebration of students who are receiving scholarships, as well as a recognition of other honors and awards. More than $5.6 million in scholarships were earned by the Hutto High School Class of 2018.

HEF awarded eight $1,000 scholarships to Abigail Cervenka, Kadijata Balde, Marissa Rodriguez, Daniel Kay, Gina Liles, Ty Carmona, Cristina Deleon, and Lyrik Walker. Through an application and essay process, these students were selected because of their service and leadership throughout their high school career. “We are honored to have these students as our scholarship recipients and know that they will go far in life because of their willingness to serve and lead others,” said Terrie Doggett, President of the Hutto Education Foundation.

The Hutto Education Foundation is a 501c3, non-profit organization created for the benefit of the school district to provide funding not allocated by tax dollars. The mission of HEF is to partner with Hutto ISD to enrich, enhance, and maximize the quality of education for all students. The foundation encourages excellence in education through many avenues including leadership and service to the school district, the community, and HippoNation. HEF and its services are fully funded by donations from businesses, organizations, and individuals in the Hutto area.

Student Grant Winner Brings Hope to Students of Live Oak Learning Center

Lillee Hernandez, a 4th grader at Nadine Johnson Elementary School, received a grant to help her classmates raise $500.00 to purchase gym equipment for Live Oak 1-3 Learning Center in Rockport, TX. After helping her classmates shoot 500 hoops to "earn" the money for the gym equipment, Lillee visited the school and delivered a box full of gym equipment for the kids. Lillee was able to interact with the teachers and students of Live Oak and see the reconstruction efforts and work still needed. In speaking to the elementary students, Lillee said, “I wanted to make sure you have gym equipment, because gym is my favorite class.” Check out the full press release and details at https://www.hipponation.org/Page/1484.
