Join us for the Kids Heart Challenge!
Our physical education program promotes daily fitness, healthy eating and active lifestyles for ALL family members and staff. Sport skills and lifelong activities will be implemented through non-competitive activities and games, along with cooperative learning opportunities.
While following the Hippo Way, we will have fitness events and community service projects, such as Kids Heart Challenge, Family Fitness Walks, Track Attack and much more.
Did you know that heart disease is the No. 1 killer of all Americans and 80% of it may be preventable through lifestyle changes? Therefore, the Physical Education classes have been busy learning about our heart and keeping it healthy by exercising during class. Jumping rope is a great way to increase the heart rate so we are excited about our jump rope unit. We are also looking forward to hosting a Kids Heart Challenge (formally Jump Rope for Heart) event on Monday-Wednesday, February 18-20 during the regular PE classes. All students have the option of raising money for the American Heart Association and receiving "thank you" gifts in return. Collection envelopes will be sent home on Thursday, January 31 in the Thursday folder. With your support, VHE and the Physical Education department hopes to reach our goal of raising $5,000 for the AHA.
Please make plans to join us for these fun and healthy events and visit this site often for more news about our program.
