Greetings! I am honored to be the principal of River Horse Academy and DAEP.  I am an educator with twelve years of experience at the elementary and secondary level.  I was a teacher at Barbara Jordan Elementary where I had the privilege of teaching Prekindergarten, Kindergarten, and 4th Grade ESL students.  After teaching for six years, I then became the School Improvement Facilitator at LBJ Early College High School for one year, an assistant principal at Hutto High School for three years, and RHA/DAEP Coordinator for Hutto I.S.D.  My staff and I have high expectations for our students and we want you to be able to say that your child has a principal and teachers who care and truly want the best for their students.  There are times as educators, we allow the knowledge of our student’s background to turn into excuses for why our students are not performing at the level we set at the beginning of the school year.  Our curriculum is aligned to state standards and we will use a variety of teaching strategies to ensure the academic success of our students.  Teachers will meet weekly to discuss best practices, review data, and plan accordingly.   We will be patient, positive, nurturing, and we will ensure our students are safe.  We will continuously communicate through email, our website, handouts, phone calls, and Skyward.  We want you to stay informed of what your student is learning and any other information needed.   I challenge you to be involved in your child’s academics because your involvement is key.  Through partnership and continuous communication among all stakeholders, we will inspire excellence in academics, character, and community.  Our students have the potential to exceed all expectations.  We will take time to recognize our students for small and large accomplishments.  Relationships will be established and trust will be earned.  My door is always open and I look forward to a great school year! Go Hippos!

Sincerely,

Alexis Campbell
