About Teacher:

I am pleased to work with your child. This is my 26th year as a certified teacher in Texas, primarily the areas of Dyslexia, Reading and Intervention, elementary and secondary. This will be my 7th yr. at NJE as the campus Dyslexia Therapist. I also evaluate students for the program. Other campuses previously served include Dyslexia Therapist for Howard Norman and Veterans' Hill Elementaries. I have served as a UIL coach for 2 years.

When not at school, I enjoy collecting, reading and traveling with family. I am married and have 2 wonderful sons. I grew up in the northeast. My mother and father were both educators.

For additional studies about teaching and diagnosing students with Dyslexia, I completed graduate studies at Midwestern State University, Ed. Diagnostician program. I am also a member of the Academic Language Therapist Association (ALTA), Certified Academic Language Practitioner (CALP), and Wilson Certified Teacher (WDP).

Students in our district use Wilson Reading an evidence- based program, with access to supplemental instruction through Google Read & Write, Lexia Core- 5 and Learning Ally. Students in the NJE program also use the C- pen, a human-voiced reading "smart technology" pen for text to speech and dictionary as needed. The C-pens were provided through grants from Hutto Education Foundation (2018 & 2019). Over 30 students in our program accessed this new technology. Thank you HEF !
