My Education Background:
Before coming to work for Hutto ISD, I taught at Coastal Academy Charter School in Oceanside, CA. I taught Kindergarten (1 year), 1st grade (6 years), and am now so excited to be starting my second year of teaching 2nd grade at Nadine Johnson! 2nd grade is a wonderful time full of creativity, imagination, reading, learning, and growing. I earned my Bachelor of Arts in Liberal Studies and Minor in Dance from California State University San Marcos. In 2016 I also completed my Masters of Education in Instruction and Curriculum, with an emphasis in Reading. In addition to teaching in the classroom, I also taught ballet for over 10 years and danced for many, many years before then!
As a teacher I am incredibly passionate about teaching to the whole child and making sure that each child's learning experience is specifically tailored to the way they learn. I am also incredibly passionate about reading. If a child can read, the world is open to them...so read, read, read!
My husband (Eric), son (Mason), corgi (Stumpy), and myself moved to the Austin area from San Diego, CA in July of 2016. Despite being from the coast, I have never surfed and am more of a "sun" person than a "water" person. I LOVE spending my time with my family, being outside, reading, reading, and reading! I'm also a traveler and love exploring new places with my family and friends. On the weekends I often spend my time gardening, exploring, reading, and spending time with my family. I also love supporting my students, so if you would like me to watch a game, event, or recital, let me know! I will do what I can to make it!
Star Wars, gardening, reading, hiking, lime sparkling water, COFFEE, baking, Jelly Belly jelly beans (sours are the best!), fun pens, and anything that sparkles!
