Howdy! My name is Jessica Gola, and I have been teaching for 12 years, all here in Hutto. I have taught grades 1st - 5th. Currently, I live in Taylor, but I am originally from Waco. I graduated from Texas A&M University in 2003, Whoop!!! My husband also graduated from Texas A&M, and he farms and ranches. I have two children. My daughter, Astin, will be two in January, and my son, Garrett, was born on June 2, 2017, the last day of last school year. I consider my dog, Mattie, my third child :o).
Math - Now that we have learned what multiplication and division mean, we will be spending the next couple of weeks applying multiplication and division in problem situations, especially multi-step word problems.
Science - We will be learning about the natural world. We will explore how soils are formed by weathering of rock and the decomposition of plant and animal remains. We will investigate rapid changes in Earth's surface such as volcanic eruptions, earthquakes, and landslides. We will identify and compare different landforms, including mountains, hills, valleys, and plains. We will also explore the characteristics of natural resources that make them useful in products and materials such as clothing and furniture and how resources may be conserved.
Social Studies - We will learn about our environment. We will discuss how landforms and bodies of water are different from place to place. We will discuss how climate affects the land, plants, and animals. We will identify ways natural resources are used. We will also describe how people affect the environment.
