Mrs. Amy Sutton

A Little Bit about Mrs. Sutton

All my life I knew I wanted to be a teacher. I can remember "borrowing" extra  worksheets from my teachers to take home for my "students" to work on. My  students, of course, were invisible, but it didn't matter to me!

I graduated from Sam Houston State University in 2005 with a Bachelor's  Degree in Elementary Education. I became certified to teach Early Childhood-4th  grade. Shortly after that, I decided to go back to school and I earned my Master's  Degree in Library Science.  In April 2020 I finished a second master's degree program and earned my Master's Degree in Educational Leadership.

This will be my 17th year of teaching. My first two years were spent teaching  1st grade in Huntsville ISD. After that I moved to Hutto. I spent two years teaching 1st grade at Ray Elementary and then a library position opened up at Nadine  Johnson. I was the librarian at NJES for one year. At the start of my second year  at NJES, I was called to teach Kindergarten. I taught kindergarten for one year and  then moved to 2nd grade. I spent two years in 2nd grade and three years in 3rd  grade at NJES. Then the wonderful opportunity to teach at Howard Norman opened up to me.  I taught 3rd grade at HNES for three years and now I am excited to continue my journey as a Special Education Resource/Inclusion teacher for the third year!

My husband Keith and I were married in 2009. We were blessed with our son  Tommy in 2011. Tommy keeps us constantly entertained. He will be starting Fifth Grade this year (sigh). We enjoy going to car shows, camping and spending time with our family and friends. I am extremely thankful for my little family!
