Ms. Amber Schmidt

Welcome to 6th Grade Math! This is just my second year at HMS, but my 14th year teaching middle school mathematics.

A little about me . . .

I grew up in San Antonio, Texas and graduated from UT Austin with a Bachelor's Degree in Child Psychology and Mathematics (dual major). I have 3 sons - twin freshmen boys and a third son in 4th grade this year - also 2 small dogs, and 1 sister, but an infinite number of bad math puns dancing around in my brain. I love ALL things geek, Diet Dr. Pepper, singing, painting, and teaching. I look forward to helping you learn to be better problem solvers, logical thinkers, and confident mathematicians.

  • How often do you give homework?

    Posted by:

WEEKLY homework is given on the first day of the week and is due the last day of the same week, unless otherwise specified. The homework is sectioned to be done a little bit each day, but must be completed in its entirety by the due date. Homework is graded on accuracy (not completion). If you are struggling to understand the homework, ask me for a tutorial pass.

  • What is the late work policy?

    Posted by:

Students have 3 days to turn in an assignment late (after the specified due date). Each day an assignment is late, 10 points will be deducted from the overall grade. Worked turned in after three days past the due date will NOT be accepted.
