Mr. Michael F Harrison

Mr. Harrison is in his 9th year of teaching and his 7th at Hutto HS. Mr. Harrison, a local Austinite, attended Stephen F. Austin HS on Lake Austin and graduated in 2006.  Mr. Harrison then attended Texas Tech University where he studied and obtained a bachelors of Music Education with emphasis in trombone. While at Texas Tech, Mr. Harrison was actively involved with the Goin' Band from Raiderland where he served as Social Officer, Trombone Section Leader, Assistant Drum Major, and Head Drum Major. In 2010, Mr. Harrison auditioned and was contacted to perfrom with The Cavaliers Drum and Bugle Corps where the corps earned 2nd place at the World Championships. 

Mr. Harrison began his career as the Head Band Director at Lorenzo de Zavala MS in La Joya ISD, in La Joya, TX where his band received Superior ratings in the Concert portion of the UIL Concert and Sight Reading Evaulation. His second year Mr. Harrison was offered a position as an assistant director at PSJA Memorial Early College High School in Alamo, TX. Mr. Harrison helped lead the marching band to Sweepstakes at the UIL Marching Contest and advanced to the Area Marching Contest. That spring, Mr. Harrison's concert ensemble received Excellent Ratings in Concert and Superior Ratings in Sight Reading at the UIL Concert and Sight Reading Evaulation. 

In the Fall of 2013, Mr. Harrison accecpted a position as the assistant band director at Hutto HS and could he couldn't be prouder of being a Hippo! During his six tenure at HHS, Mr. Harrison has helped lead the HHS Marching Band to five Sweepstakes at UIL Marching Contest and five Sweepstakes at UIL Concert and Sight Reading. Mr. Harrison is also the Director of Jazz for Hutto ISD. In his time at HHS, Mr. Harrison has grown the jazz program from 12 to over 60 students with three performing jazz ensembles. Hutto HS has the largest jazz program in centeral Texas and one of the largest in the state. 

Mr. Harrison is honored to be part of the staff of Hutto HS and Hutto ISD and is looking forward to the bright future of the Hutto Hippo band.
