Explore Your Future: Excused Absences for College and Career Exploration

High school juniors and seniors, it’s time to take charge of your future! Whether you're exploring college campuses or diving into potential careers, our College Visit and Career Investigation Days program gives you the opportunity to gain real-world insight into life after graduation.

College Campus Visits

Juniors and seniors are encouraged to visit college campuses to learn more about academic programs, campus life, and admissions requirements. Each student is eligible for two excused absences each year to visit colleges or universities of their choice.

How to Use Your College Visit Days:

  1. Research colleges that align with your goals and interests.
  2. Schedule your visit by contacting the admissions office of the college you plan to tour.
  3. Obtain a College Visit Form from the Counselor's Office or College and Career Center.
  4. Prior to attending your visit, have all teachers and an assistant principal or principal sign your form.
  5. Take the form to your college visit and have a college representative fill out the bottom portion of your form.
  6. Return the completed form to the attendance office within 2 days of your return to campus.

Career Investigation Days

Curious about what it’s like to work in your dream career? Juniors and seniors also have two excused absences each year to shadow professionals, attend career-related events, or visit workplaces to explore different fields.

How to Use Your Career Investigation Days:

  1. Identify a profession or career event that interests you.
  2. Arrange a job shadowing experience or secure your spot at a career site visit or event.
  3. Obtain a Career Investigation Day Form from the Counselor's Office or College and Career Center.
  4. Prior to attending your visit, have all teachers and an assistant principal or principal sign your form.
  5. Take the form to your career visit and have a representative fill out the bottom portion of your form.
  6. Return the completed form to the attendance office within 2 days of your return to campus.
