Military-connected children are an enormous resource for our educational community. From a young age, many have resided in different states or countries, have built resiliency to transitions and hardships, or, similar to their service member ideals, have begun building an admiration of public service. Hutto ISD's Parent and Family Engagement strives to support these families in our district, to include service members that are Active Duty, National Guard, Reservists, Veterans, and Families of the Fallen, and offer guidance navigating through community and district-wide resources that meet the needs of military families. Nadine Johnson is the current home for our district's monthly Military Support Group, and your Military Liaison, Stephen Balderas.
Military Liaisons support military families with integration into school, coordinates military-connected professional development opportunities for staff, and provides military families guidance and information to district, community, and military resources.
Military Support Postcard Appreciation
Please feel free to leave a note of appreciation to a service member during our Military Appreciation Poscard Event, May 3rd-14th. Postcards are available at each campus, with boxes available to drop postcards in for distribution.
May Military Observances
We have three important observances in May, with the first being Military Spouse Appreciation Day, Friday the 7th, in honor of those military spouses. Saturday May 15th is National Armed Forces Day, an observance to celebrating the brave men and women who are currently serving. And Memorial Day, Monday the 31st honors those who made the ultimate sacrifice while protecting our nation. Thank you ALL for you strength and sacrifice!
