• School Begins: 7:40 a.m.

    Recess: 10:20-10:50 a.m.

    Lunch:  10:55-11:25 a.m.

    Conference/Specials Period:  1:10–2:00 p.m.

    School Dismissal:  3:00 p.m.



    Every morning, all first graders will sit in the hallway by their classroom. Students who eat breakfast at school will go to the cafeteria first and then come to the hallway when finished eating. They may bring coloring books to keep them occupied as they wait. 


    Students must arrive in the classroom at 7:40 in order to be considered on time. If your child is still eating breakfast, they will not be counted tardy. When your child has missed school, please send a note to school as soon as he/she returns in order to excuse the absence.  Vacations and personal days will not be excused. 


    Children may choose to eat a prepared breakfast from the school. Children may bring a lunch or purchase a prepared tray. Please send money in envelopes labeled with your child’s name, lunch number, and amount. A helpful hint: you can save yourself the trouble of writing checks or sending cash by depositing money online. To do this, go to www.hipponation.org. On the homepage, select the “Departments” link. Next, select “Child Nutrition Services.”  There will be a link on top to pay online.


    School ends at 3:00 p.m. For a safe and orderly dismissal, we will always follow the plan you designate. The dismissal form will be kept on file for the remainder of the year. For your child’s safety, the office will require a written note, call, or email when there is a change in transportation.  If a same day change, please contact the office by 1:45 p.m. You may email hes.receptionist@huttoisd.net. The secretary will notify me before the end of the day.


    Your child is welcome to bring a treat to school on his/her birthday that will be shared at the end of the day. If your child has a summer birthday, they are welcome to bring treats for their half birthday or some time toward the end of the school year. Party invitations may be passed out to the entire class, all of the boys, or all of the girls.

     General Reminders

    Unless there is a special project or class reward, students should not bring toys to school. Hats or sunglasses are not allowed in the classroom or building but may be worn during recess.

     Snack Policy

    You may send your child with one or two small, healthy snacks to eat in the classroom. Sugary sweets and drinks will be saved for lunch. Please avoid items that can easily spill due to the fact that our room is carpeted. Your child may also bring a labeled water bottle to school.


    Your child will bring home a daily communication folder. Make sure to empty out the communication folder regularly. If you need to get in touch with your child's teacher during the school day, you can call the school (512-759-2094) and leave a message. She will return your phone call during her conference period or before/after school. You can also email your child's teacher or send a note in your child’s communication folder. In the event that you need to come in and talk to her, you can schedule an appointment during her conference period (1:10-2:00) or after school.


    Report cards are sent home every nine weeks.  Students will now be receiving numerical grades in the core subject areas: Language Arts (Reading/Writing), Math, Science, and Social Studies.
