Mrs. Stowers

My name is Jennifer Stowers, and this is my 10th year to teach at Farley Middle School. I drive in from Lexington each day to be a proud Hutto Hippo! I am an alumni from Sam Houston State University- Eat Em Up Kats! I have been married to my patient, sweet husband, Sawyer, for 8 years, and we have an energetic four-year old son, Coen, and a snuggly one-year-old son, Bennett.

My goal for my students is to become independent, self-motivated thinkers, and confident critical readers and writers. As a teacher, I seek to maximize student achievement in a culture of respect and empathy within my classroom. In our 6th grade Language Arts class this year, we will be tackling fun and engaging, but challenging texts, and my goal is for students to feel empowered to be able to do such. We will work diligently on creating meaningful annotations, which is a crucial skill that students will need in order to be successful in close reading of text. We will write each and every day, and through our practice in writing, students will feel comfortable using this medium as an effective means of communicating their thoughts.

I cannot wait to see how my students grow this year as readers, writers, and people!
