Message from Billie Logiudice, Board President
“As we look forward to what’s to come, I’d like to assure our community and stakeholders that this board will commit to do our due diligence in seeking the next person to lead the efforts of the quality public education we have come to be accustomed to here in Hippo Nation. The search will consist of heavy staff, community, business and stakeholder involvement through surveys, focus groups and informational sessions as we craft the profile of who would be the best fit for the next season of Hutto ISD. Our school district and community is a highly desired place and I believe that is a direct result of the excellent teaching, learning and leadership we continue to experience as a result of the commitment by the people that show up wearing a Hutto ISD badge every day! We are prepared to work closely with our Communications Department as we proactively share where we are during each step of the process in our search.”

What is the hiring process for a Superintendent search?
The goal of the Board of Trustees is to connect with outstanding educators to find the best Superintendent candidate for Hutto ISD. The Board will directly review all applications and identify desirable candidates for further review. To help identify a candidate with the right strengths and priorities, the Board is conducting a survey with the community to better understand what stakeholders want to see in and from Hutto ISD’s next leader. Stakeholders can provide input into the process through a community survey.

Will the identity of candidates being interviewed for the position be made public?
Because virtually all qualified candidates will currently be employed by a school district, it is standard practice for the identity of Superintendent candidates to not be made public, and this allows school districts seeking a Superintendent to attract a wider range of qualified candidates.
-
Who will be responsible for the hiring process?
The Hutto ISD Board of Trustees is responsible for selecting and hiring the Superintendent for Hutto ISD. After desirable candidates are identified and interviewed, the Board will name a selected candidate as the lone finalist, and after 21 days, can formally hire the next Superintendent.
-
How will the position be advertised?
The position will be posted on the Hutto ISD website, marketed to appropriate education industry locations across the Internet, and delivered directly to candidates that fit Hutto ISD’s profile as developed with stakeholder input.
-
What are the minimum qualifications for the Superintendent applicants?
While the State of Texas requires some minimum requirements for all Superintendents, Hutto ISD Trustees will determine the minimum qualifications based on feedback it receives from stakeholders via the survey available.
-
How long does the process take?
The typical search time can take up to four months. Dr. Celina Estrada Thomas has committed to stay at Hutto ISD until her retirement date of August 31 to ensure a smooth transition. While the board would like to have a new leader named by August 1, the priority is to have ample time for stakeholder input.
