Apply for PreK 17-18

Full day PK programs at the following campuses are full and on a wait list:

If you would like to be placed on the wait list, please email your child's name and a contact phone number to Lynne Smith at lynne.smith@huttoisd.net.  You will be contacted for next steps for registration if a space becomes available.

 

INSTRUCTIONS FOR THE PREKINDERGARTEN APPLICATION PROCESS FOR 2017-18

PreK programs will be offered at the following schools for the 17-18 school year:

Hutto Elementary, Nadine Johnson, Ray Elementary*, Veterans’ Hill*

*these campuses offer both bi-lingual and non bi-lingual classrooms

Students will be assigned to their home campus or the nearest campus with a PreK program

STEP 1:

Determine whether your child may qualify for the State-Mandated No Cost, Half Day Prekindergarten program.

To be eligible for enrollment in the State-Mandated No Cost, Half Day Pre-K program, a child must be four years of age on or before September 1st of the starting school year, live in the district, and must:

  

  • Be unable to speak and/or comprehend the English language; or
  • Be educationally disadvantaged (eligible for free/reduced lunch program); or
  • Be homeless, as defined by 42 U.S.C. Section 11302; or
  • Be the child of an active duty member of the armed forces of the United States; or
  • Be the child of a member of the armed forces of the United States who was injured or killed while serving on active duty; or,
  • Currently or ever have been in the conservatorship of the Texas Department of Family and Protective Services

 

Parents of students who qualify for the No Cost Half Day program, can choose to pay for the other half of the day.  The tuition for this “half and half” program is $275 monthly

 

STEP 2:

Children who are four years old on or before September 1st of the current school year and who do not qualify for the state-mandated no cost prekindergarten program provided for qualifying students, as described above, are eligible to enroll in the full day tuition supported prekindergarten program.  Full day tuition is $425 monthly.

 

Initially there will be a limited number of slots available at each tuition campus and HISD will hold a lottery in May, if necessary, to determine student placement. Class sizes in HISD are approximately 18:1. After all tuition positions have been filled, an official waiting list will be developed and parents will be notified in the fall if space becomes available.

 

STEP 3:

Beginning March 21st, you can go online to begin the PK registration process and complete the necessary information packet.

 

If you are new to Hutto ISD and do not have a Family Access account please click here. You will receive an account within 48 hours. If you do not receive an email with account information, please check your junk/spam folder. If the email is not in that folder send an email to registration@huttoisd.net

 

If you already have a Family Access account and have a PreK student to register, New Student Online Registration is available as a tab in your current account.  If you do not see a link on the left hand side that says New Student Online Enrollment please email your current student's name and campus to registration@huttoisd.net

 

 

STEP 4:         

ATTEND an Early Registration/Pre-K Round Up Day to complete the application process.  Round Up Dates are as follows:

 

  •          Wednesday, April 5, 2017 - 3-7pm
  •          Tuesday, April 18, 2017 - 8am – 1pm
  •          Wednesday, May 17, 2017 – 3-7pm

 

All Round Ups will take place at the Hutto High School Library, 101 Chris Kelly Blvd

 

Please bring the following documentation to the Round Up to complete the application process:

 

  •          Official/Original birth certificate
  •          Photo identification of parent/guardian enrolling student. Approved forms include driver’s license, passport, DPS issued ID
  •          Child’s social security card (optional)
  •          Current immunization record signed by physician or official waiver.
  •          Proof of residency in HISD—current utility bill or copy of lease.
  •          If trying to qualify for the State-Mandated No Cost, Half Day program – supporting documentation as requested – please click here for specifics
  •        For tuition based students:  Monthly tuition is only accepted through auto draft - a voided check or you bank account and routing number will be needed to complete the tuition agreement

 

Priority consideration will be given to qualified students enrolled in the “half and half” option and HISD staff dependents.

 

*NOTE FOR FULL DAY PAID APPLICANTS: If there are more students in a group than there is space, a lottery will be conducted after the May Round Up. Acceptance and denial letters will be sent to the email address you provided on the PK Application form within two weeks after the lottery. If your child is accepted, go to STEP 6. If your child is denied, go to STEP 5.

 

After the lottery for tuition based spots, applications will continue to be taken. Accepted or wait list positions will be awarded on a space available basis.

 

STEP 5:

If your child is denied to the program due to lack of space, you will be given information as to his/her position on the waitlist.  You may call the School Support office for information on schools with open spaces. If you choose one of these schools, your child will lose his/her position on the waitlist for the first school.

 

STEP 6:

For tuition based students: Acceptance notifications will be made after the May Round Up. Upon notification that your child is accepted into the tuition based preK program, you will be required to pay a $50 non-refundable registration fee to confirm placement within 3 days of notification. An online link through which payment can be made will be sent to the email provided on the student's application form.  Should the payment not be received within the 3 days, placement will be forfeited and the next child on the waiting list will be offered the spot.
