Hutto ISD is a closed district. All media inquiries must go through the Public Information Office. Calling administrators or campuses directly will delay the transmission of information you or your reporters need to do their job. You may contact the Public Information Office at (512) 759-3008.
Please call as early in the school day as possible with an inquiry. There is a lot of coordination required to accommodate media where we have students. Our campus hours are:
· Elementary (Pre-K-5) -- 7:40 a.m. to 2:55 p.m.
· Secondary (6-12) -- 8:30 a.m. to 3:55 p.m.
If you are working on something that comes up at 1 p.m., there is a very good chance we won’t be able to get into any buildings by the end of the school day.
Media is absolutely not allowed on our campuses or in our buildings without an authorization from or the presence of the Public Information Officer. We do not, generally, allow spontaneous interviews with students, staff or parents. If you need student or staff film, contact the PIO to arrange it. Parent interviews can be obtained from any public place OTHER than a Hutto ISD campus. We do this for two reasons:
These guidelines extend to school buses or other forms of District Transportation. Even though a Hutto ISD bus or vehicle may not be located on our campus, media is not allowed to board a bus to talk with students, staff or parents.
In the event that the Public Information Officer is out of the office, all media inquiries should be directed to the Superintendent’s office. Please contact DeDe Koslan at (512) 759-3771.
Above all, communication is a priority of Hutto ISD. We will make any effort to work media to ensure a positive and successful partnership. I look forward to working with you the remainder of this school year and into the future. Feel free to contact the Public Information Office with any questions or ideas.
